Born and raised in Atlanta, GA Chris Lowell moved to Los Angeles to study photography at the University of Southern California, and later to New York to continue his studies at the New School. His first solo show was in 2007, entitled, “Rendering the Ordinary Extraordinary” at the Walter Maciel Gallery in Los Angeles. In 2010, he co-hosted Photo LA alongside David LaChapelle, shortly before his next exhibit “The Dreamers,” opened at the Stephen Cohen Gallery in Los Angeles. His most recent show, “Thirty-One Days” saw great success at the Jackson Fine Art Gallery, opposite Vivian Meier.

Chris has worked as a photojournalist for several non-profits, including Project Medishare in Haiti and Invisible Children in Uganda. His photography has been featured in various publications, television shows and films. He is included in the Elton John Collection and the Sovereign Collection.

In addition to photography, Chris has seen great success as both an actor and a filmmaker. He has performed in a number of award-winning films, including “Up In The Air” and “The Help” (for which he received a SAG Award and a National Board of Review Award for his work). He also starred on critically-acclaimed television shows such as “Veronica Mars,” and “Private Practice.” His directorial debut, “Beside Still Waters,” won both the Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival, before getting its theatrical and digital release via Tribeca Film in 2014. He lives in New York.
